UK Tier 4 rule change w.e.f. 28th February 2013

VISA information for Student VISA UK

It has come to my attention that with effect from 28th February 2013, there will be a change in the Tier 4 rules where Loan letters will no longer be acceptable as evidence of maintenance unless they are part of an official government scheme. Otherwise, the students will have to have taken the loan and kept the money in their account for 28 days in order to apply for a Tier 4 student visa.

This rule change has come in the wake of preventing abuse of the rules by applicants using certain loan letters to circumvent the maintenance requirements. In the interim until the new rule is implemented, it is also advisable to refrain from using loan letters as all students with loan letters are under the scanner.

Information about University of Salford September 2012 intake

Information about University of Salford September 2012 intake.

Why University of Salford:

The University of Salford has a rich history stretching back to 1896, but if you thought Salford was all about flat caps, factory smog and Coronation Street – think again

Manchester is one of the most exciting cities in the UK. And with the University of Salford only one and a half miles from the city centre, you’re right on the doorstep of big-city fun, diversity and opportunity. It’s the location and environment that make Salford a Greater Manchester University

There are over 3,200 international students from more than 130 countries currently studying at the University of Salford.

  • Top 10 for Teaching
  • Top rated research institutes in Construction and Information Systems
  • High employability – many courses more than 90%
  • Our world-famous graduates include painter LS Lowry, comedian Peter Kay, actors Sir Ben Kingsley and Christopher Eccleston, and CEO of ASDA, Andy Bond.
  • At Salford we make sure our programmes are innovative and applied. Students benefit from courses that approach subjects from a new perspective and programmes are applied to the world of work – giving students a great launch pad for their career.
  • The University of Salford makes graduate employment one of its top priorities. What sets us apart is our commitment to boosting your job prospects and preparing you for the world of work. But how do we do it? By giving students the opportunity to work and study. Three out of four (74%) undergraduate programmes offer a placement year, giving students the chance to work in the UK or overseas – so they’ve got a foot on the career ladder before they’ve even left university, we make getting that first job easier. The University’s Careers Office provides free advice and support for three years after graduation – giving graduates a good start in their careers.
  • At Salford we’re driven by research – our work has been recognized as being of national and international importance in governmental assessments. In fact, our performance at the last Research Assessment Exercise (RAE 2001) places us in the top third of UK universities for research.
  • Embracing unusual and unique research areas. In 1994 Salford became the first UK University to establish a research centre for the study of gambling.
  • Putting the ‘you’ in university. From the Job shop to the Equality and Diversity Office, we’ve set up a structure of support services designed to make the students’ experience that much more rewarding.
  • We strive to be friendly, caring and supportive – making the experience of university positive and enjoyable. There are mentoring schemes for first years and all of our students are assigned a personal tutor. What’s more, the Students’ Union, Student Assistance Office and the Research & Graduate College are there to make life easier.
  • The future looks bright. In 2011 we’ll be joining five major BBC departments, including Sport and Children’s, at MediaCityUK only a short distance from the University campus. We’ll have 100,000 square feet of space filled with state-of-the-art technology right next to the BBC buildings. All parts of the University will be involved in working with the BBC and other tenants to create job opportunities for graduates, and benefit business and the local community
  • 83% of our research was judged of international class by the Government’s latest Research Assessment Exercise. What’s more, 12% was judged to be world-leading – at the very cutting edge. Not only does Salford’s research directly benefit people’s everyday lives, but it also means that our teaching and business partnerships benefit as well
  • At Salford we’re driven by research – our work has been recognized as being of national and international importance in governmental assessments. In fact, our performance at the last Research Assessment Exercise (RAE 2001) places us in the top third of UK universities for research.
  • When it comes to modern, cutting-edge facilities, our campus is really going places.
  • We’ve received a massive seal of approval for our innovative new higher education centre at MediaCityUK, with an £8m grant from the Higher Education Funding Council for England.
  • As a University, we’ve been growing for over a hundred years and achieved success every step of the way.
